Century City Alumnae Chapter is proud to join in this celebration of Dr. Charles R. Drew, featuring his daughter Sylvia Drew Ivie discussing his life and work.
The event will include Dr. David M. Carlisle speaking on the future of Charles R. Drew University and its impact on healthcare for communities of color.Â
The program will be held in the lobby of the Life Sciences Research and Nursing Education Building.
Dr. Drew (June 3, 1904 – April 1, 1950) was a pioneer surgeon and medical researcher. His research in the field of blood transfusions developed improved techniques for blood storage. He applied his expert knowledge to developing large-scale blood banks in World War ll.
